Michael Thompson

Artist member since 2020
Toronto, Ontario

Michael Thompson is a multi-media artist who studied illustration at OCADU and graduated in 2021.

He also creates queer art and merchandise through his brand, Queerage. You can find more info on that at www.Queerage.com.

Michael likes to paint the parts of life that bring him joy. He loves painting people, and little moments like drinking tea, taking care of plants, or making dinner. Want to bring some of this joyful calm into your home? Michael has works for sale and is always open to commissions. Along with years of academic, personal, and professional experience with design and visual arts, Michael has been published in multiple arts review magazines and is constantly working on getting himself out there as an artist.

Q+A

What places do you hang out in Toronto?

I like to wander! I really enjoy window shopping, so you can usually find me walking around the Eaton Centre or somewhere on Yonge St.

Describe your home in 3 words

Quiet, comforting, and queer.

Coffees per day and from where

I don’t want to think about how many, but always from Gladday.

Why is it important for people to have art in their home or life?

The art in your home is a reflection of your personality and taste, and that varies for every single person. I have all types of art surrounding my work desk at home and they’re all pieces that brought me joy the second I saw them.

Favourite book

Illusions, by Richard Bach.

Jays vs. Raptors

A raptor of any kind would demolish a blue jay. Gimme a harder ‘who would win’ question please.
